Is Newcomb Pottery on Display?
Newcomb Pottery is not always on display in the museum however, the museum regularly exhibits works from the Newcomb Pottery Enterprise – which includes pottery, metalwork and jewelry, embroidery and bookbinding – throughout Tulane University’s campus. What are your COVID-19 policies?
Newcomb Art Museum follows COVID-19 guidelines as set by the City of New Orleans and Tulane University. All guests will be required to adhere to Tulane safety policies during their visit. Absolutely no exceptions will be made.
The museum has free disposable face coverings available for use if needed or desired.
Is there a cost of admission?
Admission to the Newcomb Art Museum is always free.
Do you provide docent-led tours?
Yes. Our Programs Calendar lists themed public tours. Exhibition tours and Collection tours can be scheduled throughout the year by emailing tfriel@tulane.edu Some restrictions apply.
I am interested in viewing a specific artist’s work. Will I be able to do so on my visit?
Due to the size of the Museum, not all works from our collection are on display for public viewing. Our Current Exhibitions page will list artists whose works on display in the Museum. Please see our Collections Page to search works in our Collection that are not on display. For research inquiries, please see our Research and Class Visits page for more information.
As an instructor, how can I bring my students to NAM?
As part of Tulane University, NAM values and welcomes educational groups to the Museum. Please see our Research and Class Visits page for more information. You may also email our Coordinator for Interpretation and Public Engagement at tfriel@tulane.edu.
Do you appraise or authenticate Newcomb Pottery?
As a Museum we are unable to appraise or authenticate objects for the public, including Newcomb Pottery. We recommend contacting a licensed appraiser. There are several appraisers in New Orleans familiar with Newcomb Pottery Enterprise objects.
Do you accept submissions from artists?
We do not accept submissions for consideration of future exhibitions at this time. Any future calls for submissions will be made public through our email and social media channels.
