Student Life
The Newcomb Art Museum serves the Tulane University campus community through provocative exhibitions, engaging programs, and interdisciplinary partnerships that foster the creative exchange of ideas.
NAM is particularly honored to take part in two initiatives born of the President’s Task Force on the Undergraduate Experience:
- Center for Academic Equity: entity established by Newcomb Tulane College to ensure that POSSE, College Track, First-Generation, LGBTQ students, and all students of color and ethnic minorities have access to the same academic experience as every Tulane student and that they are encouraged and given opportunities to pursue the highest level of academic achievement.
- Residential Learning Communities (RLC): immersive, collaborative living spaces that encourage students to exchange, challenge, question, and grow—both academically and socially.
For the latter, NAM is partnering with the Departments of Art, Architecture, Dance, Theater, and Science & Engineering for the SHAPERS AND CREATORS RLC. This first-year community aims to lay the foundation for life-long engagement in the arts through hands-on thinking and the creation of unique works, both in and out of the Residence Hall.
